DIETS SUITABLE FOR DOGS WITH CALCIUM OXALATE UROLITHIASIS

Commercial Diets
· Canine U/D (Hills), probably the best to be fed if the dog will eat it
· Canine K/D (Hills)
· Canine W/D (Hills), if also has fibre responsive disorder eg pancreatitis, diabetes, Cushings disease.
· Canine low protein (Waltham)
The canned form of these diets is preferable as it increases the dog's water intake.

Human foods that can be fed (minimal calcium oxalate content)

Eggs and poultry Banana
Cabbage Grapefruit
Avocado Green grapes
Cauliflower Mangoes
Mushrooms Melon
Green peas Rice
White potatoes Spaghetti and macaroni
Jellies and preserves (jams)

Human foods to avoid feeding (high calcium oxalate content)

Herring Cheese
Salmon Ice cream
Sardines Milk
Oysters! Yogurt
Asparagus Apples
Baked Beans Apricots
Broccoli Cherries
Carrots Most berries
Celery Peel of lemon, lime or orange
Cucumber Pineapple
Sweetcorn Tangerine
Green beans Fruit cake
Green peppers Peanuts or pecans
Lettuce Soy bean or soya products
Spinach Chocolate or cocoa
Tofu Tea
Tomatoes Beer!

Where ever possible attempted to feed mainly the commercial diet and use the allowed human foods as treats only.
