REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
Some pets are on long term or permanent medication and will require to get their medication on repeat prescription. If you require a repeat prescription please telephone 48 hours in advance (remember that the office is closed on Sunday).
Why 48 hours? Well it is not just a matter of the receptionist taking your order like in a shop - the order needs to be checked by a vet and the medication approved (making sure that we can legally give you the medication without seeing your pet again, making sure that the medication will not react with any other treatments your pet may be receiving and making sure that we have seen your pet recently enough for him/her to be deemed as legally "under our care")... Once a vet has approved your medication, a member of staff will complete the order in the pharmacy and the drugs must then be rechecked by a vet to make sure that the type and quantity of medication is correct and that the directions on the label match your pet's requirements. So please don't be upset if you cannot get your medication there and then just because you happened to be passing - we aren't just being awkward.
It is a legal requirement that pets receiving long term prescription medication must undergo a periodic health check (the same as if we go to the doctor's), details of this will be given by your vet at the time.
